Pearl Specialised Dementia Service (St. Catherine's Care Home)

St. Catherine's is a purpose built care home, providing specialist dementia care through our Pearl Specialised Dementia Service.

Many of our rooms are for single occupancy, although several are large enough for sharing companions.

St Catherine's is situated in the centre of Horwich near Bolton, within easy reach of shops and other amenities, public transport and the M61 motorway. Specifically, the Meadowbrook Shopping Centre is only a mile away.

From M61
Exit M61 at Junction 6, follow the road past the Reebok Stadium up to the Beehive roundabout. Turn left at the roundabout and follow the road into Horwich, past the fire station on the left and over a small bridge to the next set of lights. Turn left at traffic lights into Mason Street and next right into Leicester Avenue and the next right into Queen Street.

Dementia Care is provided at our home within the Pearl Specialised Dementia Service. This means that the environment has been developed and adapted to the needs of residents with dementia and we can offer as much independence and stimulation as possible within safe boundaries.

The expertise of our caring team is to recognise and enable each resident to continue to do the things they enjoy for as long as they can continue to do so. Our programme is based on the theories of "person centred care" and all of our care plans are tailored around the residents' needs and capabilities. These are adjusted to provide additional support over time. 

St. Catherine's has TV lounges, quiet sitting rooms (with both smoking and non-smoking areas) and a bright conservatory with access to extensive gardens. Separate dining rooms, where residents can join the company of others at meal times, are also an important feature of the home.

Our Chef prepares a wide range of home cooked food based upon traditional cooking using fresh produce. Special diets are catered for and daily choices are available.

The home is attended by an experienced hair stylist, a qualified chiropodist and a range of complementary therapies can be arranged to suit individual requirements.

A varied programme of activities also takes place in the home for the benefit of residents.
